Vallagarina IGT “Fuflus” BIO 2018 – Vallarom
Vallagarina IGT “Fuflus” BIO 2018 – Vallarom
A strange name and a curious label that recounts and pays homage to the territory on which Vallarom Winery stands.
The map dates back to around 1700 and depicts the Adige valley right where the winery is located. Fuflus is the floating river and also recalls Fufluns, the Etruscan god of wine. The winery, located in the south/south-west on dolomitic, limestone and morainic soil, is very fertile thanks to the Adige River, which flowed a few steps away and was never dammed during the Austro-Hungarian Empire, thus giving great character to the wines produced in this area. The small island that can be seen on the banks of the Adige River is where "Lambrusco a Foglia frastagliata" is grown, which arrived intact thanks to the 'ischie', small islands created by diverting the river water and exploiting the sandy soil, an important ally in fighting phylloxera.
