South Tyrol DOC Pinot Noir “Bachgart” 2020 – Klaus Lentsch

The Klaus Lentsch winery, located in the heart of the San Paolo/Appiano vineyards, was founded in 2008 by Klaus Lentsch, descendant of a family of long-established winemakers. With a philosophy that combines a passion for wine and attention to detail, Lentsch aims for the highest quality, taking care of every stage of the process, from growing the vine to winemaking and marketing. The vineyards, distributed between the Isarco Valley, Oltradige and Bassa Atesina, benefit from unique climatic conditions that allow the production of distinctive, high-quality wines. The altitude of the Bachgart vineyard, positioned between 400 and 600 m above sea level, makes this wine fresh and pleasantly fruity.

Tasting notes

Bright ruby red color with a dark garnet heart that illuminates the glass. Pinot Noir shows itself to the sense of smell in all its typicality, emphasizing aromas of cherry, berries with aromatic spices and earthy tones. On the palate, the fruit remains present and is carried for a long time by the round and full body and the firm tannic texture. Spices and earthy tones give way to mineral freshness, with a convincing length in the finish.

Pairings

“Bachgart” Pinot Noir stands out for its extraordinary versatility in the kitchen. It is perfect with light appetizers, fish, red meats, game and mature cheeses, adapting perfectly to different types of dishes and enhancing each flavor with its complexity and freshness.

Production method

The Pinot Noir grapes are selected and harvested manually from vineyards located in the best wine-growing areas of South Tyrol, at an altitude of 400-600 m above sea level. After a cold maceration to best extract the aromas and colors, the fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, the wine matures for approximately 20 months in large wooden barrels to further refine the aromatic and structural profile, before being bottled.
