Gran Cuvée Stravecchia “Sclave” - Villa de Varda

Gran Cuvée Stravecchia “Sclave” - Villa de Varda

This golden-coloured and inviting grappa is part of the Alta Selezione line of Villa de Varda, coming from the best pomace of the Müller Thurgau and Moscato del Trentino vines, and was awarded the Best Gold gold medal.

The Gran Cuvée Stravecchia “Sclave” grappa is packaged in a fine case and accompanied by the technical data sheet hand-signed by the master distiller Luigi Dolzan , which guarantees the high quality, the aging in barriques and the uniqueness of this rare very old grappa, produced in just 3,800 bottles.

This reserve grappa comes from highly selected pomace, aged for a long time in barriques. The intense amber color, the gentle and elegant scent are an invitation to savor the harmonious and floral taste, of great aromatic richness.

On the nose it is gentle, intense and elegant with delicate fruity hints of ripe white grapes, plum, apricot, morello cherry, spicy hint of vanilla, coffee, amaretto, cocoa, nuts and pistachio, fresh pastries. The taste is particularly refined and delicate, with great aromatic richness and hints of flowers and sweet spices, walnut husk, almonds, honey and yeast.

Pairings

Try it in combination with pastries made with nuts and candied fruit.
For the more daring, it can be combined with spicy dishes, gravies and braised meats, or with fatty cured meats, mature cheeses with honey and mustards.

Production method

After having scrupulously selected only the best grapes, a slow distillation follows in discontinuous cycle copper stills, typical of Trentino. This phase, followed by the master distiller who cuts the head and tail, is essential to preserve the precious characteristics and aromas of the vine. After distillation, the grappa rests in stainless steel for six months, before being reduced in alcohol content with spring water from Trentino and then aged for 5 years in oak barriques, reaching a more complex and enveloping character.
